Mechanical and Dimensional Labs

The course are run as workshops and problems on uncertainties are address
using brainstorming techniques. Course material is tightly focused so
as to provide maximum depth of understanding and training in a period
of one day

Aspects of GUM that sometimes cause difficulties
- Resolution
- More about random uncertainties
- Control charts
- Selected ASTM standards, specifications, procedures
- Compliance, decision rules, special cases TUR less than 4:1
- Specific sources of systematic uncertainty
- Instrument drift, monitoring laboratory standards, interim checks,
calibration intervals
- Development of uncertainty budgets for in-house methods and procedures
Analytical formulae, use of calculus (as required)
Uncertainty budgets as requested by participants
