Although industry conferences are looking very different these days, A2LA has continued to find ways to connect with customers and share information with others in the accreditation industry. For Pittcon 2021, in addition to a virtual booth, A2LA experts will be presenting four different informational sessions throughout the conference. We have identified topics of interest among our customers throughout the last several months and are eager to provide helpful insider perspectives. If you will be virtually attending Pittcon March 8-12th, please join us at any of the following four sessions, or visit our virtual booth for a one-on-one conversation our accreditation professionals.
We are excited to announce that the A2LA Technical Forum will be returning in 2021 to bring you the quality informative content, industry news, and networking opportunities you have come to rely on from this unique event. CASCO ISO/IEC 17025 WG44 held its second drafting group (DG) meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on May 1 - 3, 2017 at the NRC office. 18 delegates were in attendance. A2LA was represented by Trace McInturff, Senior Director, Accreditation Services. The objective of this DG was to pre-scan the comments collected during the ballot on the ISO/IEC DIS 17025 and make observations and proposals to the entire working group (WG), to facilitate its work in the upcoming WG meeting 6. This meeting will take place 10 - 12 July 2017 at the ISO office in Geneva, Switzerland to complete the DIS comment review to produce ISO/IEC FDIS 17025. Although the name of the conference may imply otherwise, this was not a conference on gemstones. A2LA CEO, Lonnie Spires, and A2LA Biosafety Program Manager, Roger Brauninger, traveled to San Diego, California on February 2-4, 2017 to attend and exhibit at the 3rd annual “Emerald Cannabis Conference” sponsored by Emerald Scientific. The 2017 event theme was “Exploring the Science of Cannabis.” The 3rd annual conference attempted to focus on the issues of hard cannabis science and a significant number of the participating organizations were A2LA-accredited. Session topics included “Science and Horticultural Practice” and “Analytical Testing and Sample Schemes.” Many speakers advocated the use of accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025 in their presentations, including Cindy Ludwig of AOCS, Shawn Kassner of Neptune, Jahan Marcu of ASA and Sue Audino, A2LA assessor.
