DoD Advanced Geophysical Classification Accreditation Program (DAGCAP)
A2LA is recognized as an accrediting body under the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Advanced Geophysical Classification Accreditation Program (DAGCAP).
The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) has successfully demonstrated the Munitions Response Advanced Geophysical Classification process (Advanced Classification). Advanced Classification has the potential to save billions of dollars by focusing cleanup activities at munitions response sites (MRS) on the removal of explosive hazards while avoiding the unnecessary and costly excavation of non-explosive debris.
The Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Environment, Installations, and Energy has established the DoD Advanced Geophysical Classification Accreditation Program (DAGCAP) to ensure thorough competency. A2LA is a recognized accrediting body under the DAGCAP.
The inital DAGCAP accreditaion consists of a two-part assessment process:
- A quality system assessment at the organization’s home office location
- A five-day demonstration of capability (DOC) located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland
Once accredited, the process then entails a two-day onsite renewal process that runs on a two-year cycle, which involves:
- A quality system assessment at the organization’s home office location
- An observed Demonstration of Capability involving data from the DoD’s created Synthetic Site
Program Requirements
DAGCAP will hold all organizations performing advanced classification to a minimum set of DoD rquirements:
- DoD Quality Systems Requirements for Organizations Performing Advanced Classification (DoD QSR version 2.0) based on the international standard
- ISO/IEC 17025:2017, General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories
