EPA National Lead Laboratory Accreditation Program (NLLAP)

A2LA is formally recognized as an accreditation body working in cooperation with National Lead Laboratory Accreditation Program (NLLAP) to accredit lead (Pb) testing bodies.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics (OPPT) formally recognizes A2LA as an accreditation body working in cooperation with the EPA National Lead (Pb) Laboratory Accreditation Program (NLLAP) to accredit lead (Pb) testing bodies. Organizations seeking inclusion on the NLLAP-approved list must comply with ISO/IEC 17025 and the NLLAP Laboratory Quality System Requirements.

This specialty program is covered under the A2LA environmental field of testing.

Program Requirements

  • ISO/IEC 17025 General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories
  • A2LA-specific requirements that reflect the NLLAP program criteria
  • Optional Requirements for the Accreditation of Field Work
    • A2LA also offers additional requirements for laboratories performing tests in the field (i.e., at other than a permanent laboratory site).
