U.S.FCC Equipment Authorization Program

U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recognizes A2LA as an Accreditation Body for laboratories testing in support of FCC Certification and FCC Declaration of Conformity (DoC).

As of July 13, 2017, all testing performed in support of FCC Certification and FCC DoC must be performed by an accredited laboratory recognized by the FCC. A2LA is recognized to accredit laboratories in the United States, India, Philippines, Thailand, and People’s Republic of China for these purposes.

This specialty program is covered under A2LA’s electrical field of testing and product certification.

Program Requirements

  • ISO/IEC 17025 General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories. 
  • ISO/IEC 17065 Conformity assessment -- Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes and services
  • Technical requirements contained in 47 CFR. 
  • Optional Requirements for the Accreditation of Field Work 
    • A2LA also offers additional requirements for laboratories performing tests in the field (i.e., at other than a permanent laboratory site).
