A2LA Customer Care Profiles: Andy Randolph

This week marks one month since the official launch of the A2LA Customer Care Department, and the last entry in our series profiling our attentive and dedicated Customer Care Representatives. Andy Randolph, the most recent of our four hires for the department, shared some information about himself and his experience with A2LA so far. 

Andy attended seminary with the expectation that he – like many of the people in his family – would one day become a pastor, but after a few twists and turns of fate, he decided that his charisma and eagerness to help others would better applied elsewhere. After honing his skills in customer service at a handful of other organizations, Andy leapt at the opportunity to become part of an organization that serves an important role in science, medicine, global trade, and everyday life. He is excited about this new opportunity to help make the world better.  

Andy began work at A2LA just as the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the normal office routine, so his introduction to the team was a little atypical, but his coworkers gave him a warm and supportive welcome just the same. The rest of the Customer Care Department has been instrumental in getting Andy up to speed, even while working from home. So far, Andy’s favorite part of the job has been learning about the fascinating and diverse industries his customers work in. He feels very privileged to be able to interact with people from all over the world and gain a new perspective on processes many people never stop to think about. 

Outside of work, Andy has quite a few hobbies he is passionate about. He spends a lot of time playing tabletop games – and approximately the same amount of time picking up the pieces of those games after one of his three cats knocks them over. He is a big Star Wars fan and is part of a charity group that dresses up as Star Wars characters for events at hospitals, libraries, and the like. He also hosts three different podcasts with his friends.
